The artist started this portraiture while working on multiple master studies for an academy class. He has been exploring the various styles and mediums of portraiture. He states that faces tell stories and that they are is easy to get lost in if you pay attention. Here in this self-portrait, the artist has slightly distorted and exaggerated certain features. The artist wanted the work to be realistic in a caricature style, but not in a funny way.

Joaquin Stacey attends Florida International University and is a junior in the BFA program. He was born in Ecuador and moved to the United States when he was 14. He has lived in Miami for the last five years with his family. He plans to graduate from FIU in December 2021.
